The Spanish National Honor
Society (SNHS) recently ran a prize drawing to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

Students began to plan the community service project in late March and collected over $300. in donations from the following companies: Puerto Vallertas, Outback Steakhouse, Pagliacci’s, Toni’s Pizza, Randy’s Pizza, Village Pizza, Subway, Laurel Lanes, Kohl’s, Stop and Shop and Borders. Our Lady of Mercy Parish Council and teachers of Plainville High School also donated prizes for students and staff to win.

The Spanish National Honor Society would like to thank those who donated from the community. Tickets were sold for two weeks in the cafeteria to PHS students and staff. “It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but we were able to raise $366. for Habitat for Humanity,” explained Alex Salazar, President of the Spanish National Honor Society. “Students were certainly enticed by all of the prizes they could win”. Alex Salazar is currently working with the Capitol Region Inter-District Leadership Academy (CRILA) to raise money; any other donations would be greatly appreciated. If anyone would like to make a donation, please contact Alex at alexslzr@sbcglobal.net. Members of the Spanish National Honor Society involved in this fundraiser are from left to right: Jennifer Farina, Chelsie Green, Rachel Orzechowski, Nicole Orzechowski, Coryn Alvarez, Alex Salazar and Melaney Coyle.
