Plainville High School's

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

Plainville High School is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., a non-governmental, nationally recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include elementary schools through collegiate institutions offering post-graduate instruction.

Accreditation of an institution by the New England Association indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer group review process.  An accredited school or college is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purpose through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.  Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by the New England Association is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole.  As such, it is not a guarantee of the quality of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates.  Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Inquiries regarding the status of an institution’s accreditation by the New England Association should be directed to the administrative staff of the school or college.  Individuals may also contact the Association:

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Plainville High School Program of Studies and Course Catalog publication is prepared to provide you with information about the diverse course offerings and learning opportunities offered at Plainville High School.  This resource should be used to map your course selections while at Plainville High School.  Making your course selections should be done with careful consideration and should not be done in haste.  It is important to access support from parents and members of your school community to assist you in planning course selections that will best prepare you for your aspirations upon graduation.  Your high school record will follow you, whether going on to college, military service or the work force.  The choices you make during your years at Plainville High School will have a lasting effect.

We live in a competitive global society, where education represents the key to unlock many doors which otherwise remain locked to those who are inadequately prepared.  I encourage you to look at your high school years as a vital stepping stone on the pathway of life.  At Plainville High School our vision is to prepare students for a successful and rewarding life in the twenty-first century global society. Your goals and high school achievements become the foundation upon which a successful and rewarding life will be built.  The opportunities represented in this Program of Studies enable you to bring this vision to life.  Our goals as a school are quite similar to those held by you and your family.  We want you to be prepared for success in the next phase of your life after graduation.

I challenge you to set goals above what you think you can accomplish, and to exhibit hard work and determination in the quest to achieve your goals.  I encourage you to make the most of your time and experiences at Plainville High School.  Upon graduation, my hope is that you will look back at your high school experience with a proud smile of accomplishment.

As your principal, I will ensure that your school provides you with nothing but the best opportunities and support in pursuit of your goals.  The choice to take full advantage of these opportunities is yours.  Finally, we hope you enjoy the collection of student-artwork shown throughout this publication.

Wishing you success,
