Students, families and faculty at the Middle School of Plainville came together in October for a night of fun and creativity at MSP’s “Paint Night” event. Art teacher Laura Meehan created step-by-step painting demonstrations for the group of painters to follow along. The participants created beautiful canvas paintings of fall pumpkins. The event was a fundraiser for the school’s Parent Teacher Club.

Students in Mark Chase’s Transportation Technology classes have successfully completed another batch of bicycles that they have been working on.

The Plainville High School Physical Education Department hosted the "Breakfast of Champions" on December 20th for PHS students who passed all four sections of the Connecticut Fitness Exam.

On November 6th, Plainville High School juniors and seniors attended an assembly featuring motivational speaker and author Chris Sandy , from the Choices Matter organization.

More than 100 colleges, universities and technical schools, together with several branches of the military, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, the Main Street Community Foundation, and CHESLA ( Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority) were in attendance at the Plainville High School College Fair held on October 25th. The College Fair is coordinated by the high school's School Counseling Department.

The Plainville High School Science Department recently hosted world renowned speaker Dr. Sam Rhine at the high school’s annual Genetics Conference.

The Plainville High School Student Council will be hosting the first annual Homecoming Carnival event on October 25th at Plainville High School from 5:00PM until halftime of the Homecoming football game.

Plainville High School hosted an “Athletic Celebration” on June 17th for seniors who will be going on to play collegiate athletics. The event was organized by Plainville Community Schools’ Athletic Director Chris Farrell. “The student athletes from the Class of 2019 are just remarkable,” said Farrell.

The Plainville High School Physical Education Department recently hosted a Breakfast of Champions celebration for the second semester. Students who passed all four sections of the Connecticut Fitness Test were invited to the event, which was catered by Dunkin' Donuts.

The Plainville High School Italian National Honor Society, with faculty member / advisor Maria Colangelo, held a Scopa Tournament on February 4th.

The Plainville High School Physical Education Department recently held their end of the semester "Breakfast of Champions Breakfast" catered by Dunkin' Donuts. Congratulations to the 64 freshmen and 58 sophomore students who passed all four components of the CT Fitness Test.

Plainville High School students Zoe Leider and Ryan Espinoza- Ortiz have been named recipients of the first semester “Students Rock Award” recognizing their outstanding contributions to Plainville High School.

The Plainville High School Boys Soccer Team was honored at the December 10th Board of Education meeting for making history, winning the Class M Championship for the first time in PHS history!

Plainville High School hosted a “STEM & Manufacturing Career Panel” event for students on November 28th. The program was coordinated through the district’s School Business Community Partnership Program and featured speakers from Trumpf, Manafort Brothers, Fluid Control Solutions, ACME Monaco, DATTCO, and Tunxis Community College.

Plainville High School students in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship classes recently attended the Jets High School Marketing and Business Day event with faculty members Trevira Boatright and Steven Michaud at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The group received a behind the scenes tour of the facility, learned about the transition of changing the stadium from one team to the other for the Jets and Giants, and attended multiple workshops focused on marketing, accounting, and broadcasting.

On October 18th, Plainville High School SRO (School Resource Officer) Jessica Martins, Plainville Police Detective Jamie Fenn, and retired Thomaston Police Department Officer Susan Graham served as guest speakers in Plainville High School faculty member Jeff Robert’s UCONN Early College Experience Physics classes

Plainville High School students in Trevira Boatright’s Entrepreneurship class attended a field trip to an entrepreneurial incubator, The Garage, in Hamden, Connecticut on October 18th.

More than 110 colleges, universities and technical schools, together with several branches of the military, and two local foundations were in attendance at the Plainville High School College Fair held on October 19th!

On Saturday, September 29th, 28 Plainville High School students enrolled in the school’s Early College Experience UConn Biology course, together with Plainville High School science teacher John Girard, participated in a half day “lab” experience at Sessions Woods in Burlington, Connecticut.

Republican primary gubernatorial candidate David Stemerman paid a visit to Plainville High School on August 9th. Stemerman, who met with Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett and several Plainville Board of Education members, toured the high school’s STEM, Communications, Automotive and Construction Labs lead by Plainville High School faculty member, David Gaignard.

Financial Planner and Plainville High School alumnus, Angleo Pietri, was a guest speaker in Plainville High School faculty member Brian Edge's Persona Finance and Financial Literacy classes on May 21st. Angelo's interactive discussion stressed key concepts that allow young adults to become financially independent.

Plainville High School students in faculty members Mark Chase and David Gaignard’s STEM and Engineering classes recently competed in the annual SEAPERCH competition hosted at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut.
